THE ALBION TAVERN - Chipping NortonIn 1863, a local businessman, James 'Bony' Willians started Chipping Norton's first public water supply on the site where the Albion tavern now stands. What is now the beer cellar was the original reservoir containing the water he sold. In 1873 a license for the sale of beer was granted at 'The Reservoir Tavern' Towards the end of the 19th century, the 'Tavern' was acquired by the Hook Norton Brewery, who to this day still sell their fine traditionally brewed ales to our discerning customers. |
